"What are you talking about Claire?"
"I am standing in dirt, pick me up now!!!!" Katie does as she is told finding her shrunken friend in the dark easily.
"Claire maybe we should go back and let Hugo know about this."
"Now who sounds scared Katie?"
"Watching it 'little Claire' remember whose holding you."
"Hey, I see a light up ahead!" Says Alan interrupting their playful teasing.
"Good, I have a bad feeling about this place." Claire is content to be toted around again, not wanting to hurt herself on the rocky dirt floor of this place.
As they move on down the narrow passageway Claire sees the pinpoint of light begin to grow. The closer they get the clearer their vision gets, until they are able to see the world around them. In the low-light Claire is provided she can see that the walls are coarse and rocky.
"Are we in a cave?" Claire already knows the answer.
"I think we are." Alan answers her from up ahead.
Soon Claire can make out grass and trees in the world beyond this tunnel, and what looks like a clearing.
"This is going to be bad."
"We'll think of something Katie." They exit into the daylight noticing how the world around them is a lot larger than Hugo lead them to believe. The clearing is surrounded by a forest filled with densely packed trees, and has what looks like a carved path leading out to the group's left.
"This is going to be really bad."

Alan takes off on the path ahead of them without saying a word.
"Hey, wait up!" Katie calls out to him, shifting Claire in her arms so she can run. Her longer legs let her easily bridge the distance between them letting her slow down. "We have no idea what's happening ahead of us, so we should probably stick together."
"Yeah, but then there's a chance you girls might get hurt."
"Awe you don't have to worry about my safety little guy, but your chivalry was a nice gesture."
The foliage around them becomes dense and dark blocking out everything beyond the walls of this path there is no sign of wildlife in the woods that surround them. The absence of birdsong is quite eerie, making Claire squirm around in Katie's arms trying to look in all directions.
"Claire, will you sit still?"
"Sorry Katie, I thought that I seen something out of the corner of my eye."
"There's absolutely nothing in these woods Claire." "I'm not too sure about that Katie, I have a feeling like we are being watched."
"I feel the same thing, it's just your nerves."
"I hope you're right."
They walk in silence for the next ten minutes, Claire still alert to every shadow in case it moves.
"Are we still in the mansion?"
"I'm almost certain of it Claire, we would have noticed at least one animal if we were in a real forest."
"But we've been walking for way too long. Hugo said this was just going to be in and out."
"That's worrying me too, maybe that witch is a lot more powerful than he first thought!"
"I just hope that she pities us enough to help us."
"I think we've found her." Says Alan who strayed a little ahead of them on the path.
Katie hurries up to reach him and is glad to see a modest cabin hidden off in a clearing much like the one they found earlier. It looks to be made out of hand cut logs, with an intricate garden filled with strange looking plants taking up every square inch of space alongside of it. Katie slowly approaches the home noticing that the curtains are drawn, keeping out most of the daylight. Katie steps onto the porch and reaches for the door knob.
"Shouldn't we knock first?" Asks Claire.
Katie gives her an embarrassed smile. "That was close, the last thing we need to do is piss her off!"

Katie taps lightly on the door, hoping that whoever answers is in a good mood. She waits for a minute and after receiving no answer she tries again.
"Be patient Katie, she has to be at least ninety years old."
"Right, well she might be asleep too."
"True, but either way we have no idea how she'll react to strangers after being locked up for so long. So we should try to show as much respect as possible."
Katie knocks on the door one more time, this time she uses a bit more force just to make sure she is being heard. Katie then reaches out and grabs the door handle, checking to see if it's locked. It turns easily and she looks down to return the sharp gaze of the shrunken girl in her arms. Claire's eyes seem to shout at her not to do it.
"We don't have time to play like this Claire. Ashley could be getting squeezed to death as we speak!"
"Okay, but I don't think it's a good idea."
"Good or bad it's the only plan we have." Katie unlatches the door and swings it open.
Inside of the witch's home there's a fireplace slicing through the gloomy atmosphere with it's pale flickering light. Katie enters slowly trying to stay as quiet as possible. The room looks like something out of an imagination. A cluttered table filled with random notes and nicknack's, shelves stuffed to the ceiling with vials and bottles containing unknown substances, a small bed of straw off in the corner that looks to be reserved for a pet of some kind, but no sign of the witch anywhere. Alan comes in behind them, shutting the door and returning the room to it's dull shade of flame.
"What are we supposed to do if she isn't here?" He asks.
"I'm going to look around, maybe I'll be lucky and find the solution to our problem." She sets Claire down on the floor and begins to look through the papers scattered across the table.
"Maybe shouldn't be too nosey Katie, she could be watching us right now."
"I don't think she is, after all these years of isolation I'm sure that she's going to jump at the chance to talk to someone."
Katie goes right back to the witch's notes, looking for any clues to end Ashley's affliction. Alan joins her, shuffling through the contents of a cluttered cookie jar in the center of the table. After watching her friends search through the witch's belongings for a few minutes, Claire gives in and walks over to a low cupboard and uses all of her strength to pull open the door. Inside she notices a collection of fine silver chalices with intricate designs painstakingly molded across them. At this time Katie has already given up on deciphering the witch's handwriting and moved on to the shelf examining the contents of the hundreds of jars, bottles, and vials.
"Albino Bat Guano.....
Speckled Toadstool Stems.....
Extract of Mung Root.....
What on Earth is a mung root?!?!?"
"It's an uncommon plant with very interesting qualities." Says an unfamiliar voice behind them.
Katie almost jumps out of her skin after hearing the strange female voice, but is courageous enough to face her fear. Alan has stopped in place, still holding the lid of the cookie jar. Claire is on the other side of the room, and quickly dives into the pile of hay in the corner in an attempt to hide. What she sees when she peeks out amazes her. Standing between Katie and the table is a woman that doesn't look a day over twenty with very long auburn hair flowing all the way down to the midpoint of her thigh. She has a mysterious smirk on her face and her hands are resting on her hips. Katie's face is a portrait of surprise and fear, she looks to have lost her nerve.
"Oh I'm sorry for snooping around, but we are looking for Rose. Are you her?"
The mysterious woman laughs hard and long before looking Katie in the eyes. "It looks like your search has indeed come to an end. And in more ways than one."
"But....
"But we came here for your help."
"It doesn't matter why you came here you silly little girl. Now that you are here you'll serve a better purpose."

"What do you mean?"
Claire doesn't say a word, instead raising her hand and extending her fingers toward Katie she mumbles something under her breath, and suddenly her eyes change to a brilliant shade of black. A strange yet familiar sensation begins to fill Katie as she stares into the witch's eyes. The only thing that breaks Katie's trance is Alan's frantic words.
"Hey, stop that! We came here to get help for a friend!"
Katie looks around the room and notices that everything is changing, growing larger and rising higher. No that's not right, she's shrinking! Just a moment ago she was the tallest person in the room, but now she has to look up to see the smiling eyes of the witch who seems to be growing taller by the second. Soon her skin tight tee is loose enough for the neckline to slip off one shoulder making her look like she's playing dress up in her older sister's clothes. Claire watches from her hiding spot as Katie's jeans begin to slip, falling into a pile around her ankles. She quickly notices and squats down to pull them back up. When Katie stands up again she is dismayed to see that Rose has taken a few steps forward, her young young and perky breasts are hanging right in her face but soon that changes as her shrinking continues.
"No, why are you doing this?!" The witch stays silent, keeping her attention set on the slowly reducing woman before her. Katie's clothes are comically large on her now, only being held up by her shrinking hands.
"That's it!" Alan moves toward the witch, but before he reaches her she turn her attention to him.
Rose centers her hand in his direction mumbling a few inaudible words. He stops in his tracks looking scared and suddenly disappears into thin air. Claire gasps having witnessed Alan being removed from the room. What is she going to do to them?
"Please you don't have to do this!" Katie can feel her strength begin to wane as the weight of her clothes is becoming almost too much for her to handle.
"I know that I don't have to make your shrinking so slow, but I just love to watch panic form in your eyes." The witch gets down on her knees and lowers her large smiling face down into Katie's.
Katie is awestruck as she looks up into the onyx eyes of the kneeling witch. Her clothes are now becoming a burden too heavy for her reduced strength to bare, making her release her over-sized garments before their combined encumbrance drags her down to the floor. The witch's smile broadens as Katie sinks into the expanding pool of clothes, looking up in horror at her enormous problem. Then just as suddenly as it started Katie stops shrinking and watches as the giantess's eyes return their normal shade of blueish green. It's just at that moment that Rose gets her wish as Katie panics. She awkwardly escapes her tangles of clothing and tries to run across the room towards the door.
"Where are you going little one? Your fun here is just getting started!"
Claire wants to run out and help her, but she is frozen in fear. She can only watch as the giantess strides across the room after Katie.

Katie isn't small enough to slip underneath the door, and by the time that she realizes this it's too late. She turns around seeing the witch's hand descending right towards her.
"No!!!" Squeaks Katie.
Rose laughs as her shrunken prey cowers against the door, shaking in fear of what will be done to her. The hand closes around her, it's fingers giving Katie a gentle yet firm squeeze. Rose can feel her continue to tremble her hand, her soft tanned skin breaking out in goosebumps. Katie's fear is like a drug to the witch, a high she hasn't been able to feel in decades.
"Yes that's right, squirm and wriggle. Try to escape your fate my new pet. All of your pathetic attempts amuse me so much."
Katie pays her words no attention, trying hard to move at least her arms which are trapped behind her back from the insurmountable strength of Rose's hand. But her failed attempts at freeing her arms only fuels the giantess's amusement with the shrunken doll-sized girl.
"Please, will you just hear me out?!?" Pleads Katie.
"You seem to forget tiny one, you won't be leaving here anytime soon. Whatever the reason was you came here seeking me it doesn't matter anymore. I haven't had any test subjects to play around with for a long time, and now that you're here I have lots of exciting new incantations and potions that I've just been dying to use."
These words send a chill up Claire's spine as she continues to hide under a few layers of prickly hay. She has no idea what she'll do to stop this, but she has to think of something and fast. The witch carries Katie across the room and lifts a small sheet off an object sending a cloud of dust into the room. When the dust clears Katie can see her destination, an old bird's cage.
"Wait!"
"It's too late." Rose opens the cage door and dumps the tiny shrieking girl inside.
Katie lands in a heap of shredded paper, having the wind knocked out of her on impact. She looks around the cage and doesn't out right see anything of interest, but she does hear a faint noise coming from under the paper bedding. She sits up and moves over a bit and sees the paper she was sitting on begin to move. Reluctantly she starts to dig and immediately comes across the source of the sound.
"Katie!! You've gotta help me!!" Right underneath where she was sitting is Alan shrank down to the size of a bug.
"Oh my!" Katie scoops him up and holds him gently in her cupped hands. "Where are we?!"
"Caged up in the corner of the witch's house."
"Have you seen Claire?"
"No, and don't mention her Alan. I think Rose hasn't spotted her yet."
The witch leans her gigantic smiling face up to the cage door, looking over her new acquisitions.
"You might want to get use to this place, it's your home for now on."
"Please, we can't stay here. If you're not going to help us then we need to get back and tell Hugo that our friend has no hope." The name of her former lover breaks her smile momentarily, but it returns quickly as a confident smirk.
"So the all powerful and impressive warlock needs my help?" Her laughter after saying this is so powerful that it makes the cage door tremble in fear.
"He can't control a powerful spell that's effecting my friend. And she's going to to be hurt or hurt someone else if we can't find a way to cancel out the magic soon."
"They still haven't been able to figure out my little secrets after all these years, I knew all of those simpletons were only useful as animals in a cage." The witch laughs hard once again and leaves them feeling useless about their situation.
Claire watches Rose gleefully prance around the room, exiting out a door that could have been her bedroom. Seeing this could be her only chance she crawls out of the hay and sets off for the cage holding her friends.

Katie frowns down at Alan who is still sitting in the palm of her hand looking discouraged and ready to give up.
"Coming here was a bad idea." Says Alan sad and helpless.
"That's the way it's starting to look." Katie agrees.
"Do you see Claire anywhere?"
Katie looks around the room seeing nothing had changed since her last glance, still no sign of Claire at all. She opens her mouth to say this, but is interpreted as a large hand reaches up and grabs the cage door. Katie panics and backs up to the other side of her prison, holding Alan tight in a defensive position. The hand grips the cage door tightly and suddenly Katie can feel the paper bedding below her begins to rumble and shake like she's in a miniature earthquake. She shrieks and clutches Alan tightly to her chest, tight enough for him to feel her agitated heartbeat pound against his entire body.
"Calm down Katie! Do you want her to hear you?!" Says Claire as she pulls herself up enough for her face to be seen through the cage door.
"Oh Claire, I'm so happy that it's you!"
Claire pulls herself up onto the table so she can take most of her weight off the cage. Katie is relieved enough to realize that she's still squeezing Alan against her chest.
"Sorry little guy." She says removing the pressure and returning him to the palm of her hand.
Claire sees him and breathes a sigh of relief. "Good, he's safe. I was worried that we were going to be stuck here searching for him."
"Okay Claire, what are you waiting for? Break us out of here and let's go!" Says Katie excitedly.
"Alright, step back I'm going to pull the cage door off it's hinges." Claire positions herself on the table and grips the door hard with both hands.
Using all the strength she can muster Claire pulls back trying to snap the steel holding her shrunken friends against their will. Nothing is happening at all, she can't even feel the door bend from her grip. She redoubles her efforts, but still is making no progress. Frustration is building inside of her, and she's worried that she is too weak to be of any help to them. Finally Claire throws caution to the wind, leaning back and using her full weight to give her leverage. Claire feels the cage begin to sway, but the door is still holding strong. Then out of nowhere Claire hears the witch in the other room making lots of noise.
"Crap, I think she's coming back!" She sighs.
"It's okay Claire, you tried your best." Katie walks over and squeezes one of her enormous fingers affectionately.
"I'm going to free you, just sit tight."
"I know you will!" Katie grins up at Claire.
Another loud bang can be heard coming out of the other room like a crash of thunder. This makes Katie let go of Claire so she can climb down and hide.
"I won't let her hurt you." Says Claire as she turns around.
"Thank you Claire, now hurry up and hide before she stuffs you in here with us."
Claire does as she is told and leaps down to the floor landing very gracefully. She looks around for a new hiding spot, but nothing looks safe to her. Across the room she spots the musky pile of hay she used earlier and breaks into a run hoping she can make it back before she is caught. She is only a few seconds away from safety when the witch bursts out of the other room, waltzing around like she's having the best day of her life. She's humming loudly, a mysterious tune that Claire can't quite place. Right now Claire is at a dead run and dives forward into the indentation she left when exiting the pile. Luck seems to be ob her side because this is the second time she evaded detection from the witch.
"Whoo! That was close." Claire sighs turning around to see the witch approach her imprisoned friends.
Rose struts up to the cage with an evil grin etched across her face, hiding untold malicious intent just out of sight. She leans down as close as she can from the door and watches as the tiny people inside cringe from her presence.
"It took me a moment of searching to find it, but I think it will be well worth the time." She says hanging a golden chain out in front of the shrunken prisoners. "This is what you risked your life for."
Swaying on the chain is a plain brass ring with symbols etched across the band. It glints in the fire light making it look almost as evil as the woman holding it. Katie bravely approaches the cage door, her attention captured by Ashley's salvation. Rose brings the ring very close to the cage, the golden chain is lightly clanking against the steel door.
"Go on, reach out and touch it little one. I want you to know what it feels like to have what you want so much be just out of reach." Katie reaches for the ring, but the chain sways it away from her grasp at the last second. "Oh, too bad."
Rose cackles like a lunatic as Katie reaches out as far as she can, but can only touch the ring with her fingertips. After teasing her with it for a few minutes she pulls the chain back and grins down at Katie.
"It looks like you're just a bit too small. How does it feel to be so helpless?" Katie doesn't answer her, she just stares back with hate-filled eyes.
Rose lifts the chain up and hang it around a hook set into a shelf above the cage.
"There, now you can have a reminder of why you are here forever and ever and ever." She cackles louder than ever. "That's if I decide to let you keep your memories and free will."

"That woman is insane!!" Claire whispers to herself while she watches her gleefully tease Katie and Alan.
Rose walks over to her shelf of potions and elixirs, studying the names she carefully etched into the glass. Claire can her her giggle as she mentally reads them off.
"Oh I really want to try that one! No, wait this one will be so much fun." Excitement builds in the witch's voice. "Oh I can't choose!! I guess maybe I should take my time."
Rose continues to verbalise her insanity while picking out the right mixture, sending unease into the minds of tiny captives. Then suddenly an eerie scratching noise can be heard coming from the door. The witch immediately looks up and forgets what she is doing. The scratching continues as she turns and walks to the door.
"Is mama's little baby wanting in?" She almost sounds nurturing at the moment sending a feeling of dread into Claire's mind.
The longer Claire hears the scratching the more worried she feels. There is clearly going to be something else added to her mounting list of problems, something with claws. Then out of the corner of her eye she spots a single grayish colored hair embedded in the hay along side her. It's longer than any hair she's ever seen and definitely doesn't belong to Rose.
"Oh my God, I'm in it's bed!" Claire is too frightened to think about digging herself in deeper, and it's way too late for her to find a new hiding spot so she stays there stricken with fear.
Katie peers out the cage watching Rose opens the front door allowing bright sunlight inside of her home. She tries to see what foul creature is asking entrance, but the witch is blocking her vision.
"Oh Sampson, I have wonderful news!! We have guests!! No, not those kind of guests. I can't let you eat them because your mommy has plans." They couldn't hear the other voice, but she was talking to the creature none the less.
Claire tries to see what's entering but the door is hidden from view at the moment. She can hear extra feet walking across the wooden floor, and what might be claws tapping with each move. Preparing herself for anything, Claire sees the witch walk by followed by a monstrous fluffy house cat. The cute beast swaggers in like he is the ruler of this domain.
"They're up in this cage dear, come look." He stands up on his hind legs and is able to rest his front paws right on the cage door.
Sampson leers in at the miniature captives, baring his pearly white teeth in a cheshire grin. Katie is slowly backing up, repulsed by the stench of death coming from the beast's mouth.
"Aren't they perfect?! I'm going to have so much fun toying with their humanity."
Sampson turns his feral stare up to the witch who looks into his eyes and smiles.
"If you're a good boy then I might let you 'play' with one of them when I'm done."

The witch walks off to her potions leaving Sampson there staring st and salivating over Katie. Claire is almost in a state of panic right now, she's completely vulnerable and defenseless.
"I would be better off locked in that cage too." She whispers.
Katie holds Alan close, wanting human comfort more than ever at the troubling time. the awful warm breeze created by the cat -beast is making her stomach do flips. She worries about her safety as he licks his lips and continues to stare with his ravenous eyes.
"Shoo!! Get away!!" Katie says with terror evident in her voice. "Scat!"
The cat's grin widens as Katie backs up farther. Then he makes a noise that sends a chill down her spine. It sounds like a laugh or a chuckle, but it was so feral and unnatural that no one would mistake it for human. He then turns and walks over to the witch who is still trying to make her decision,
"Oh, of course mommy will feed you." She says looking down at him. "And while I'm at it I might as well cook up something special for our guests. It would be rude to not show them any hospitality."
At that the witch giggles and leaves the room flanked by her beastly pet. Claire hears Sampson let out that nasty laugh once more as he exits. She hopes to never hear that sound again, it might drive her mad. Claire takes this opportunity to cautiously exit her dangerous hiding spot and creep back across the room toward her friends. This time Katie sees her approach and waves at her frantically to get Claire's attention.
"There's a cat! What are we going to do now?!" Katie's voice is a chaotic mixture of whisper and scream.
Claire climbs back up the table, pausing for a second to look in at her friends. She gives Katie a wink and begins to pull herself up the bars of the cage going for the top.
"What are you doing Claire?"
"I'm going for it Katie!" She continues to pull herself up the bars, her breathing accelerating with her workout.
"What?!?" But she answers her own question when she looks up and sees the brass ring dangling above her prison.
Claire inches closer and closer, she's now pulling herself up onto the roof of her cage. The ring is over top of her, all she has to do is stand. Carefully Claire positions herself and hooks her feet to the cage bars to create a steady base.
"Be careful Claire!" Katie yells up.
"I will... whoa!" Claire's foot slips through the cage making her fall to her butt, her leg dangling into the cage.
"Sorry." Katie looks up at Claire with a face that mimics both nervousness and embarrassment.
"It's okay Katie, just watch out for that cat for me."
"Will do."
Claire looks up at her prize and thinks about Ashley. A single tear falls down her face as she attempts the brass ring once more.

Claire slowly regains her footing and rises up till the ring is right at face level. The brass band is as thick as her thumb, she hope to never get this closer to the finger that once wore it. She grabs hold of the ring and begins to yank down hard on the gold chain, her reduced strength yields her no results. Looking up at the hook that it's attached to she sees that pulling wouldn't be an option. The golden links are lassoed around the hook, she'll have to find another method before she gets caught. Claire grips the ring with both her hands and begins to whip the gold chain vigorously in order to free it.
"That looks dangerous Claire, maybe you should try a different way." Katie says below.
"It's almost like she tied it up there, this is the only way."
Claire shakes the chain as fast as she can, but it still showed no sign of progress. She 's about to give up on it when the chain takes a lucky bounce and starts to unravel from the hook.
"My idea is going to work! Just give me a few minutes and I'll have this down." Claire diligently goes back to work swinging the chain with all the force she can muster.
For five minutes Claire works hard to free the ring, and she felt it start to give as she hears a startled gasp below her.
"Claire!"
""I've almost got it!"
"Forget about it Claire, run for your life!"
It seems that the small amount of noise she was making alerted Sampson in the other room. Instead of dining on his meal, he's now running strait toward Claire with a murderous look in his eyes. Sampson bares his teeth and leaps, landing with thunderous force on the table pushing the cage almost past the edge. This tosses Claire off her feet and into the air. She clings tightly to the ring with both hands soaring through the air at high speed.
"Claire, save yourself! You've got the ring, use Hugo's magic ." Says Katie picking herself up off the cage floor.
"No! I can't just leave you!" Claire is now swinging from the gold chain like she's on an amusement park ride, holding on for dear life.
The monstrous feline starts to climb the cage, moving it's front paws up to the top. As Claire spins around she sees the cat in hot pursuit, but can't move or do anything about it.
"Eeep!" Claire manages to let out through the fear.
Sampson grins intently as he rise off his hind quarters and pulls himself up the cage wall. Katie is freaking inside her prison, not sure what will become of her friend. Soon Claire's movement takes her in the direction of the cat-beast's menacing grin. She can't help but close her eyes hoping it would all just go away. Sampson can feel the cage start to shift and move while he climbs, but continues to pursue Claire none the less. He licks his lips and readies himself to strike. Down below in the cage Katie almost falls over again as the cage begins . to slide past the table's edge. At this point several things happen almost in an instant. Sampson's weight is too much for, causing the cage to be pushed forward a bit more. He's already in mid swing, trying to swat Claire extending his claws for a killing blow. The cage slipping throws off his trajectory though, and he almost misses her entirely. Claire can't find the nerve to open her eyes, which is a good thing because the sight of Sampson lunging at her would have been scary indeed. The soft padding of Sampson's paw hits her hard in the small of her back, It's enough to knock the wind out of her and cause an immense pain. The force from Sampson's swat send Claire flying like a home run ball, and she's still has a death grip on the ring.
"Aaaagh!" Katie screams as the cage topples off the table and come crashing to the floor.
Sampson's eyes bug-out as the place he was standing on is swept away, taking him with it. Claire opens her eyes after hearing the crash and looks down just in time for the gold chain to snap sending her and the ring flying.

Claire is holding the ring tight and screaming at the top of her lungs as she soars across the room. She hopes for a soft landing, but from what she can tell it won't be. She's heading strait for the witch's potions, and can almost already feel the magical tingling sensation that will accompany her crash. She closes her eyes again and braces for her hard landing, but it never comes. She lands in an open jar, the powdery substance inside cushioning her impact and sending a tiny cloud of dust out of the jar's neck. Claire is surprised that she's still alive as she shakes the talcum like dust out of her hair. She manages to stand up and realizes that she still has the brass ring clutched in a vice grip. Her victory is short lived though because she can hear the witch hurrying into the room.
"What as that noise? Sampson!!" Rose runs over to her pet that's sprawled out over the bent and battered cage.
Sampson lets out a weak sad yelp as she approaches, lifting him off his steel landing spot. She looks inside the cage to see Katie stirring in the wreckage. The shrunken girl pulls herself out of the shredded paper bedding that saved her life, slowly checking to make sure nothing is broken. The cage bars are bent horribly, Katie could easily just walk out now if not for the fact the the witch's pet resides on the outside.
"Oh Sampson baby, I told you that those guests aren't for you to play with!" She stops for a second looking into the cat-beast's eyes. "What do you mean there's another one?"
Claire is now climbing out of the jar, trying to slip away discretely from the witch's potions. The witch is looking at the cat with a gaze that is turning from concern to rage. She looks up at the hook which once held her powerful relic, and curses loudly seeing all that left of it is a few entwined golden links.
"Where is she now?!?!" Rose almost sounds furious.
She doesn't get the response she is looking for from her pet so she sets him down gently and snatches up the steel cage with enough force to send the tiny people inside falling head over heels. The witch gazes inside and withdraws Katie from the new exit made from Sampson's landing.
"Your little friend? Where is she? Tell me and I might make her death quick and painless!" Her sweet and innocent demeanor has vanished completely, the only thing left is this revolting personality last seen by human eyes decades ago.
"I have no idea what you're talking about!" Says Katie with fear evident in her eyes and voice.
"Lies!" The witch yells squeezing Katie tightly in her grip.
The youth and beauty that was once dwelling in her face has been replaced by a foul ageless appearance that reminds Katie of an evil stepmother she once seen in an old children's movie. She scans the room furiously, but can see no sign of Claire's location.
"You will tell me! Even if i have to torture it out of you!"
Katie gasps as the witch approaches the potions, searching the bottles for something that will punish Katie for not giving up her friend. Katie reads the names off to herself, hoping to never experience any of them first hand. Then suddenly Rose lets out a bone chilling cackle, confusing the shrunken girl in her hand til she sees it.
"Your friend made a big mistake!" Some of the glee is returning to the witch's voice.
Down below on one of the shelves is a trail of white powdery foot prints that could only belong to Claire.

Dread wells up inside of Katie as the witch follows Claire's tiny foot prints across the shelf. All hat Claire had accomplished in the last few minutes was get herself caught it seems.
"You think that you were so smart trying to trick me? This isn't the first time I've had to find a tiny escapee, and I can assure you that you will be found!"
"Please just leaver her be, she's so small that there's nothing she can do." Katie pleads.
"It doesn't matter if what size she is, I intend to end her existence with just the flick of my wrist."
Claire's prints lead behind a small flask, and appear to vanish on the other side. The witch smiles as she positions herself to easily snatch up Claire the second she moves the flask.
"Run Claire! Escape, go back to the mans..." And with that Rose changes her grip and covers up Katie's face blocking off the rest of her warning and air flow.
"You miniature nuisance!" She says frustrated as she moves the flask revealing nothing at all.
The witch looks around confused and sees no sign of the shrunken troublemaker. Her frustration is at it's peek, letting her anger boil over into a fit of rage. She curses loudly and inadvertently squeezes Katie hard, almost hard enough to crack a rib, Katie's weak yelp of pain is barely audible to the witch, but it's enough to draw the giantess's full attention.
-----------------------------------------------
At this moment Claire's heart is beating harder and faster than it ever has in her life. She stood there motionless as the witch's shadow fell across the potion shelf. When the giantess's hand reaches forward and grabs hold of Claire's cover she tightly closes her eyes and cowers against the shelf. The tiny frightened girl waits for the worst, expecting to be squashed flat like a minuscule bug, but nothing happens. She dares to peek and almost releases a blood curdling scream when she sees the witch staring right through her with a penetrating gaze. She then hears Katie cry out in pain, stealing away the giantess's attention. Confusion muddles Claire's mind, there's no way the witch missed her.
"It looks like your friend is a bit trickier than I first thought." She opens up her hand revealing Katie twitching in fear.
"Sh... she'll never give up!"
"Oh is that so? Even if I'm torturing her friends right in front of her?" Rose cackles thinking of what she could do to the tiny prisoners to flush out her pest.
The witch's laugh cuts through Claire's psyche like a blade. She knows that she was spotted. Why is Rose acting like this?
"Show yourself little one! This is your last warning! This game is over!"
Claire builds up her courage and walks forward to the edge of the shelf and waves up at the giantess hoping to save Katie from the witch's cruel intentions. But again the witch overlooks her, like she isn't even there at all.
"What am I? Invisible?!?!?!?"

Down below on the shelf of potions the trail of tiny powdery foot prints extends all the way to the edge, but Rose is not paying attention. Instead she is holding Katie just in front of her face.
"That friend of yours must not care for your safety at all."
"She's smarter than you think she is old woman!! She knows that getting herself caught won't save me!"
"You better watch your tongue, remember you are a guest in my house and you will act accordingly."
"Guest? Yeah right!" Katie tries to keep her sarcasm silent.
The giantess's smirk widens as she feels Katie weakly squirm in her grasp.
"Okay now what will I do first? Snap a leg? Pull an arm out of socket? Or cause internal bleeding?" She looks over the cabinet looking for Claire. "I'll do it all to her one by one if you don't come out of hiding.
Claire tries to think up a plan of action, but can't come up with an idea to save Katie. The only thing that is left to do is give up. She waves the ring high above her head trying to get the witch's attention again. "Hey Big Ugly down hear!!"
Rose hears Claire's tiny voice this time, but doesn't see her anywhere. She scans the cabinet once more, noticing the new trail of footprints this time.
