"I...I think so." Sonja said, trying to focus on making herself a sphere. As she focused the water that had splashed out began moving back toward the bowl. Even the water that splashed onto Dawn was moving down her body and over to the bowl.

"Are you getting this?" the voice asked; Dawn simply nodded, not looking up from her notepad. "Spheres are usually much harder for the brain to focus on... Sonja, I'd like to make you a teensy little offer."

"Oh? What kinda offer?" Sonja asked, her form wavering as she lost focus.

"Well, as interesting as this experience probably is for you," the voice said, "you've been only taking baby steps so far. All part of the scientific process, of course, but probably not as... exciting as you may have hoped, let's say? If you'd like to form more complex things, like say a body, simply say the word and my lovely assistant will provide you with a thickening agent. That will decrease the amount of energy you need to expend, which will in turn ease the mental strain of altering your shape significantly."

"Well it would be nice to get out of this bowl." Sonja said. "Sure, I'll take that thickening agent."

"Alright." the voice said. "But we have to extract the 'sea' from you first. You're saltwater, after all. Water has to be pure for this to work."
As the voice went on over the process, Dawn lifted up the basin (again with little effort) and brought it to the counter on the opposite wall. She set it down beside what looked like a large stovetop...

Sonja listened carefully, a bit curious and nervous about how the salt would be extracted from her.

Dawn reached into the cabinet under the counter and pulled out a large pot. She upended the basin next to it, pouring Sonja into the pot and then setting it on the burner.
Then, as nonchalant as can be, she turned the dial, and the stovetop clicked and incandesced.

Slowly the bottom of the pot began to get warm. "Um...Is this safe?" Sonja asked as her watery form began to bubble & boil.

"As safe as anything else we're doing in here!" was the slightly overenthusiastic reply.
Dawn rolled her eyes at this choice of words and continued the assembly, putting a lid over the pot so no steam could drip back in after boiling off.

As the pot got hotter and Sonja boiled more she found herself feeling a bit lighter. Her watery form grew smaller as she turned to steam, soon finding herself floating outside the pot.

After a few moments, Dawn peeked into the pot, which now contained only a small amount of salt. No more water.
"What should I do with this?" she asked.
"Put it in a shaker?" her instructor replied with a chuckle.
"And how do we get the rest of her back in one piece?"
"...That's a good question." the voice sheepishly admitted. "I go more step-by-step; planning in advance isn't my thing... Uhhh... Any ideas, Sonja?"

"Umm..." Sonja said, sounding a little woozy. Dawn watched as the steam began to spread out, scattering Sonja as her focus lessened.

"She doesn't seem like she's in any shape to offer an answer." Dawn said flatly.
"Guess we'll have to go to Plan B." the voice mused. "Manually recondensing her... Open the fridge."
Dawn nodded and strolled to the icebox, opening it and reaching in. The turned the power dial to its highest setting; the machine hummed loudly and began blasting near-freezing gusts of freon out into the warm, steamy air.

The steam began to sink down as it cooled. "Huh? What happened?" Sonja asked, her voice echoy as her moisture form turned to ice.
