Looking around once more Emma stepped across the border when she saw no one around. As she stepped across though Gene was surprised as she started to change.

Her body started to get older and mature before she stood on the other side as a teenager. "Ah...that was a nice little getaway." she said stretching a bit before heading off into the forest on the other side of the border.

"Getaway? So she must have found the border yesterday...But what lies beyond the woods on that side?" Gene wondered, debating whether to continue following her.

"I have no idea what out there." Gene said. "But...nothing good comes from standing by." he said walking over the border.

As he did he felt a slight tingling through his body. "That's new..." He said before continuing on after Emma.

"Where did she go?" Gene wondered as he hurried along past the forest before entering a clearing. "Okay...where could she have...huh?" Gene said seeing the place was a lot different than he was used to. While he did see houses, he also saw a city and a large high school beside it.

"Huh?" Gene wondered as he saw people driving from the city to the school. "This has to be why she left."

As he looked around an adult with a whistle around their neck was heading Gene's way. "Hey! Didn't you hear the warning bell? Get inside and to class before I give you detention."

"What? But I don't..." Gene said before they grabbed him and hauled him into the school.

As he was pulled down the hallway Gene was surprised the teacher wasn't taller. As they passed a trophy case Gene saw a startling surprise, his reflection wasn't that of a child.

"I'm a...the border!" Gene said before the teacher stopped. "Wait, how do you know of the border? I thought we closed it off?" he said.
