The glow of her jarred fish barely shined as she went deeper. Looking around she wondered if those that came before had gotten lost in the darkness.

She continued going down before reaching the bottom. What startled her was a number of bones on the bottom, both fish, merfolk and human bones. "Okay...keep calm." Kaia said as she started searching.

As she searched the sea floor she came across a few giant isopods. Figuring they had picked the bones clean she continued her search. Soon something glinted in the sand.

"Could that be..." she said before seeing a strange colored stone cash as she plucked as many as she could.

She eventually reached the top and hid near the edge as the mouth moved passed her before going back down into the trench. She saw the creature was some sort of giant shark.

"Okay, may have been a megalodon. They're the largest species of shark ever recorded, big enough to eat whales whole. It had no predators." Marina said.

"Given the bones that were down there maybe it was the last of its kind." Kaia said. "Maybe...At least it seems to prefer the dark depths." Marina said.

"That's fine. I got what I was looking for anyway." Kaia smiled as she dug around her bag.

"These!" she said showing the stones. "Uh...huh. And just what are these?" Marina asked. "Stones to let us walk on land." she said. "What?" Marina said.

"I read about them in the royal archive." Kaia said. "B-but you can't just go leaving the city like that...What will your mother think?" Marina asked.
