Tess went to the door when they didn’t hear anything. “Are they all asleep? It’s only about noon.” She said, looking out into the hallway.

Cam walked over to check on Chloe's room while Tess walked over to Beth's. "Beth...Are you awake?" Tess asked, poking her head inside.

Both girls hurried to Karen's room, hoping the rogue would either still be there sleeping or groggy from having been out so long.

"Maybe we should split up and look around." Tess said, but Cam shook her head. "No. If someone snuck in to take them then we need to stick together." Cam said as Tess pulled out her dagger. "If they hurt one hair on my pretty elf..." Tess said angrily.

Both of them hurried out of the castle, the smell getting stronger. Both wondered how they had missed the smell in the first place.

"We didn't smell it when we got in...so why now?" Cam thought as they ran out the castle gates to see a large cake sitting before it. "That wasn't there when we arrived." Tess said.
